A Day at 910ARTS

910Arts is pleased to participate in Visit Denver's 5280 Deals with "A Day at 910Arts" and invites you to treat yourself to the unique experience of hands-on workshops in our creative community located in the heart of Denver's Art District on Santa Fe.

"A Day at 910Arts" includes:

• Green Tour of 910Arts - At Denver's only green-built creative community, a green tour highlights design, construction and operation of the former Santa Fe Drive warehouses transformed into a mix of eclectic artists' spaces. A leader in green building for ingenious use of sustainable methods and materials, the multi-use 24,600 sq. ft. redevelopment project incorporates concepts of urban renewal and community enhancement.
   
• Lunch - Choose from a menu of salads, sandwiches and beverages at the on-site Studio 6 Coffee House.
   
• Art Workshop - Participants may choose one of the following workshops led by 910Artists.
  1. Floor Cloths & Placemats - Create a unique rug, long lasting and brightly colored, using centuries-old techniques begun in Europe when floor cloths were used to cover floors and decorate rooms. Artist Ginny Abblett shows you how to use heavy cotton canvas, apply a simple design with acrylic paint, and seal your floor cloth - or placemat - to make it virtually indestructible. Floor cloths are completely durable, simple to clean with soap and water and easily transported home.
  2. Mask Making - Start with a gourd and go from there...deep into your imagination. Use found objects, supplied by us or bring your own, to create a sculpture you didn't even know you had in mind when you started. Sculptor Kathleen Sherman shows you how.
  3. The Beauty of Street Art - Learn about street and mural art from some of Denver's most renowned artists. As they demonstrate their art, you get information to take home about starting your own mural club, working on alley beautification and obtaining wall spaces on which to create art. Along the way, you learn how street art can help resolve graffiti problems, using successful Denver area programs as a model. Judy Weaver guides your tour.
  4. Lei Making - Learn to make a fresh flower lei that you can wear for an evening out on the town or give to someone special. Expand your knowledge of Hawaii with a cultural discussion led by instructor Maile Inagaki while she shows you how to create your beautiful orchid lei.

Located in the heart of Denver's Art District on Santa, Fe, 910Arts is a community of 18 artists' studios/galleries, 7 artists' live-work lofts and the Studio 6 coffee House, centered around a colorful open-air courtyard. It is home to the eventgallery 910Arts, an exhibition and performance space that is also a unique venue for parties, workshops, meetings and special events.
