This exhibition of 15 oils on canvas is a display of full-figure self-portraits exploring the balance and imbalance of the seven main Chakras of the human energy system. The related workshops are an introduction to the Chakra energy centers and the various disciplines that can bring them into balance and harmony.

Saturday, March 19 - Tibetan Bowl Sound Healing/Chakra Balancing: In this class beginning with pranayama breathwork, the Tibetan bowls are played in the traditional Himalayan method for relaxation and Chakra balancing. As Chakras re-align, deep breathing leads to a profound state of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Let the bells carry away what no longer serves and feel lighter in body and soul as stress, anxiety and fear melt away. Please bring a Yoga mat. The workshop is presented by Claudia Ingraham, RYT, who holds a certificate for advanced sound healing and has studied with Nepalese teacher Suren Shrestha. 2:00 to 4:00. $18 per person

 

Wednesday, March 23Chakra Essence: What is it? Where is it? Why is it?: Just like a rainbow, the Chakra energy centers are rich with quality, meaning and attributes, and are full of vibrancy and pure essence. When functioning well, in balanced harmony, the Chakras are bound to create a new level of health and wellbeing for those willing to acknowledge, learn about and experience them. The lecture is presented by Roseanna Frechette, a creative spirit, performance poet and registered yoga professional whose presentations are infused with dynamic and spirited vitality. 6:30 to 8:30. $12.50 per person.

 

Wednesday, March 30Healing Plants for the Chakras:  In this experiential workshop, become acquainted with the therapeutic properties of plants to invoke spiritual healing and balance the Chakras. Learn the Central and South American healers’ method of using the spirits of plants to heal the spirits of people. Taste teas and syrups, experiment with infused plant oils, become acquainted with potions that heal, and experience an all-over-body plant brushing. The workshop is presented by Kim Thompson and Erica Bryant, both of whom are affiliated with Apothecary Tinctura. Kim is a clinical herbalist who has practiced herbal medicine for 10 years. She is a massage therapist, with a specialty in Mayan Abdominal Massage. Erica is a student of reflexology and Chakra balancing who ran the Natural Living Department at Whole Foods for a decade. She practices aromatherapy and has a degree in nutrition. 6:30 to 8:30. $15 per person.

 

Saturday, April 2Essence of the Chakras: Hatha Yoga & Young Living Oils: Incorporating medicinal oils to open and balance the energy centers of the mind, body and spirit, this workshop focuses on the Eight Major Chakras and the healing benefits of medicinal oils in Yoga practices. Pranayama and asana techniques strengthen the organs, balance digestion, enhance communication and open the psychic and spiritual centers. The workshop is presented by Karen Boeser, certified E-RYT Hatha Yoga Instructor whose teaching methods have evolved over 15 years of practice and training involving study with some of the most recognized teachers on the American Yoga scene. 2:00 to 4:00. $15 per person

It is presented by Shelley Irish, a professional oil painter and teacher with an MFA in Representational Painting, who is certified in Reiki I and completed the year-and-a-day program to further her work with the elements and Chakras. It is a sister science to Yoga that provides an elegant system for optimum self-care based upon the elements that are most predominant in the constitution. Learn how to balance Chakras and life energy with appropriate food and knowledge of constitution. This fun, tasty and informative workshop is presented by Beth Sanchez, Ayurveda Consultant, and Vicki Johnston, founder of VeganCooks. Beth Sanchez has been teaching alignment-based Vinyasa Yoga for over 10 years. Her Ayurveda teacher is the brilliant local practitioner, Alakananda Ma. Beth also teaches simple vegetarian cooking and practices mindfulness in the tradition of Tich Nhat Hahn.  Vicki Johnston is a Master of Holistic Nutrition and has been teaching healthy cooking for more than 20 years. With unrefined oils and salts, she uses the natural elements of water and fire to transform whole foods. Friday, April 15Metaphysical Properties of Stones and Crystals: Begin with a talk on the metaphysical properties of stones and crystals and then receive a personal analysis to determine which stone is most beneficial to your Chakras to maintain balance. Optional: Select your stone to create a custom necklace to benefit your wellbeing. Choose silver or gold plate wire with a machine made clasp or an infinity clasp. The workshop is presented by Claudia Ingraham of Claudia Ingraham Design. 6:00 to 8:00. $13 per person/workshop. Saturday, April 16Vinyasa Yoga with Tibetan Bowls in Savasana: Begin with pranayama breathwork to calm the central nervous system, followed by 15 minutes of stretching. The core class is 50 minutes of strength-based Vinyasa flow concluding with 15 minutes of Tibetan bowl relaxation therapy while in Savasana. This is the ultimate combination of stretching, strengthening, balancing and relaxation wrapped into one class. Please bring a Yoga mat. The workshop is presented by Claudia Ingraham, RYT, who has been practicing Yoga for over 13 years and who completed teacher training with Sadie Nardini. Claudia’s specialty is blending Vinyasa Yoga asanas and breathwork to facilitate rejuvenation, strength and balancing of mind, body and spirit. Saturday, April 23Opening of Chakras to the Essence of Spring: A Meditation Celebration: By opening and experiencing the qualities of Spring within the Chakra energy centers, we become radiant with renewal and a greater sense of aliveness. This session begins with creative inquiry into the meaning of meditation as well as the dynamics of a season. Students mindfully share sitting awareness, group discussion, soft yogic breathwork and stretches as preparation for a 30-minute guided meditation. No experience is necessary; participants should dress in layers for warmth and comfort. Those who wish to lie down for meditation should bring a Yoga mat and blanket. Folding chairs are available; those who wish to sit on a cushion should bring one.
