Play: Conversations about Creativity
Play: Conversations about Creativity
“Play: Conversations @ Creativity” is a mixed-media show featuring three Denver area artists, opening at the EventGallery 910Arts on First Friday Art Walk Night on October 1 and continuing through November 13. Brandon Davison-Tracy, Catherine M. Dutcher and Phil Eastwood contribute works themed around “play” and each conducts a workshop designed for young artists and the young at heart.
A painter of abstract art, Dr. Brandon Davison-Tracy also practices pediatrics in Denver and his medical practice sponsors his workshop, scheduled for Saturday, October 23, from 2 to 4 p.m., entitled “Destruction, Construction and Imagination: the ‘Art’ of Creativity!” At stations where children can engage with different forms of expression, like painting with brushes, splattering, dripping, cutting and pasting, they discuss what “art” is, why it matters and how it can benefit the quality of life. The goal is to assemble all of the canvases together and create one large abstract expression of creativity. The workshop is free; however, space is limited and reservations are required at 303-815-1779.
Catherine M. Dutcher, a painter and digital photography artist who studies at the Art Students League of Denver, leads a workshop designed to introduce teenagers to the art of photo shop, on Saturday, November 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. No experience is necessary, but participants need a laptop computer. The fee is $15, space is limited and reservations are required at 303-815-1779.
Phil Eastwood, a graphic designer by trade who mixes mediums and recycled materials to create his style, leads a “Costume Building” workshop with recycled and found materials, on Saturday, October 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. Suitable for all ages, the workshop teaches parents and their children how to craft Halloween costumes.
