Capoeira – Movement – Yoga
Denver Academy of Movement Arts is Studio 8, located inside the 910Arts building and serves as a home for embodied practices rooted in rhythm, expression, and discipline. The space is hosted by two longtime teachers, Mestre Grilo Preto and Mestre Beringela (Lewis Lease), who both lead a community of Capoeira, the dynamic Afro-Brazilian martial art. The studio is also the home of Ritual Movement Practice, a methodical and introspective approach to movement developed and taught by Grilo Preto. In addition to Capoeira and Ritual Movement Practice, the studio also hosts Denver Mysore Yoga, along with seasonal workshops, gatherings, and community events. The space continues to evolve as a hub for physical practice, creativity, and connection in the Denver Arts community.
